Schumann and Brahms Piano Quartets

Robert Schumann wrote his chamber music pieces intensely for two years after his marriage to Clara in 1840, and his Piano Quartet in E-flat is a sincere celebration for his beloved and life. Johannes Brahms, a very close friend of the Schumanns, wrote his famous Piano Quartet in G minor, 8 years after they first met. For this performance, legendary violinist Charles Castleman hails from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, to join cellist Mark Rudoff and violist Nancy Nehring from the Ohio State University in Columbus, and pianists Peter Miyamoto and Ayako Tsuruta.
